Long story short, a buyer recently psuhcared an electronics item from me which was sold for $300. Buyer paid almost immediately and i shipped the item out to the buyer the very next day. Ok, about a week later the buyer opens an ebay case against me saying he received a defective item and wants a refund. I agreed to issue a refund upon return of the item(obviously i wasnt gonna just givea $300 refund without having the item back ). Well here’s the shocker ..this con buyer ships me a box full of styrofoam and bubble wrap but NO ITEM! I was LIVID! So i contacted ebay to let them know about this and they were NO HELP! They still gave the buyer a FULL REFUND b/c the con was sneaky enough to ship this box full of crap to me using signature confirmation so of course it shows the box was delivered to me but the problem is they shipped me a BOX WITH NO ITEM! So now i am out of the $300 and the item while the buyer gets to enjoy a brand new electronic item for FREE! This is so unfair and in my 7 years of being a seller on Ebay, i have never had something like this happen.All ebay did was advise me to report this to the internet crimes division at my local police department, which i did. I also filed a complaint on this person for internet theft on the IC3 (Internet Crimes Complaint) website. It’s been almost 2 weeks now since i have filed the complaint and i haven’t heard anything neither from my local PO department nor the IC3 site. What can i do? I either want this thief to return the item to me or return the money that was wrongfully refunded to them. What is the liklihood that law enforcement will actually do anything about this?
